A BRONZE MARBLE AND BONE FIGURE IN...
20th century. Raised on a marble column. Electric lighting in the dome. 150 cm high. (Minor flaws).
*Sculptor in the figure of a dancer who embodies Shiva (Hindu god) which was a favorite subject of early modern dancers. They presented the god in the guise of a woman as sculpted here. This statue base is one of the more elaborate bases designed by Chiparus. These bases were converted to electricity by hiding light bulbs in the base, and this lighting provided a soft glow that illuminated the central figure.
